What Round?

When time shifted from B.C. to A.D… who counted on it?
Time keeps moving.
That’s its whole thing.
Tick.
Tock.
Forward.
No complaints.
No explanations.
Just motion.
Yet somewhere along the way, humanity decided it wasn’t enough to experience time.
We had to organize it.
Count it.
Label it.
Number it.
Very ambitious.
Imagine being the person responsible for keeping track.
One day it’s B.C.
The next it’s A.D.
No rehearsal.
No countdown clock.
No giant banner announcing:
“Everybody ready? We’re switching eras.”
Amazing confidence.
What’s even funnier is that nobody was around saying,
“Good news, everyone. We’re currently living in year one.”
That realization arrived much later.
History has a habit of doing that.
Looking backward and assigning numbers after the fact.
The funny thing is that people love asking what year it is.
Rarely what round it is.
Because sometimes life feels less like a calendar and more like a boxing match.
A few victories.
A few losses.
A couple of questionable decisions.
Back to your corner.
Drink some water.
Try again.
Round after round.
Guess that’s why time survives.
Not because we count it perfectly.
Because we keep showing up for the next round.
B.C.
A.D.
Tuesday.
Next week.
Next year.
Different labels.
Same clock.
Still moving.
Who counted on it?
Apparently… Quite a few people.
