Walls rarely appear overnight.

Neither do the reasons for them.

One disappointment.

One broken promise.

One conversation that never happened.

Another that probably should have.

Before long, there’s another brick.

Nobody wakes up hoping to build a wall around themselves.

Thinking like look just look…

What a remarkable piece of construction.

The only problem is that it keeps things out…

Sometimes keeps you in.

The tears aren’t always from the pain that built the wall.

Sometimes they’re from realizing how long you’ve been living behind it.

Still…

Brick by brick.

Until one day…

That’s all a wall needs.
