Got ones, some twos and fews… flaunt it off… four who’s.
—Jig3125
Everybody seems to have something.
Some have ones.
Some have twos.
A few have more than a few.
And some…
well, they apparently feel the need to flaunt it off.
Look at me.
Look what I got.
Look what I found.
Attention.
Recognition.
A little applause.
Somebody asking:
“Where’d you get that?”
Suddenly the thing isn’t the thing anymore.
It’s the reaction to the thing.
One becomes two.
Two becomes a few.
A few becomes…
whatever comes after a few.
That’s where…
One is one.
Two is two.
But “few”?
Now we’re negotiating.
Four who’s?
Who’s counting?
Who’s watching?
Who’s keeping score?
Not what you have.
Who notices.
You can have a pocket full of ones and still act like you’ve got a fortune.
You can have a couple of twos and make them look like a collection.
You can have a few…
and somehow make “few” sound like plenty.
Taking whatever you have…
and turning up the volume.
Nothing wrong with being proud.
Just don’t lose count trying to prove it.
Got ones.
Some twos.
A fews.
Flaunt it off.
Four who’s.
Who’s asking?
Who’s counting?
Who’s looking?
And who’s pretending they aren’t?
