Filet Mignon or Steak-umm… it’s all bowel movement.
—Jig3125
People have strong opinions about food.
Very strong.
Fancy restaurants.
White tablecloths.
Tiny portions with impressive descriptions.
Then there’s the other side.
Paper plates.
Drive-thrus.
Mystery meat with a surprisingly loyal fan base.
Everybody has a favorite.
Everybody has standards.
Everybody is convinced they’re making the superior choice.
Fair enough…
The human body has a wonderfully humbling way of handling the situation.
You present it with a Filet Mignon.
It nods politely.
You present it with a Steak-umm.
It nods again.
A few hours later, both are headed toward remarkably similar destinations.
Amazing.
For all our classifications and rankings, biology remains unimpressed.
Luxury.
Budget.
Gourmet.
Convenience.
The stomach is willing to hear arguments.
The digestive system has already reached a verdict.
This isn’t a criticism of good food, of course.
Enjoy the steak.
Enjoy the sandwich.
Enjoy the celebration.
Life would be boring without preferences.
The funny part is remembering that some of the things we treat as enormous differences aren’t always as enormous as we think.
A little perspective never hurts.
Especially when discussing things that eventually become mud pies.
Filet Mignon or Steak-umm…
Different journeys.
Same meeting.
The body keeps excellent records.
Zero snobbery.
