Public privacy… it’s kind of rude Huh.
—Jig3125
“My mistake. I thought the announcement was for the public.”
Strange times.
We’ve created public privacy.
A place where personal things are shared openly, but somehow still expected to be treated as private.
It’s a curious arrangement.
“Here’s everything.”
“But don’t look too closely.”
“Here’s my opinion.”
“But don’t disagree.”
“Here’s my life.”
“But only the parts I approve of.”
It’s kind of rude, huh?
Not the sharing.
The confusion.
The assumption that broadcasting something and protecting it are somehow the same thing.
Perhaps we’ve forgotten that some thoughts grow better in quiet.
Some feelings need time before they meet an audience.
Maybe the challenge is knowing the difference.
The innermost parts of ourselves aren’t valuable because they’re secret.
They’re valuable because they’re personal.
And personal things deserve care.
Whether they’re shared with one person…
Or a million.
Public privacy.
What a strange little contradiction.
