Medals, meadows, meddling.
—Jig3125
Artists collect strange things.
Like moments.
A glance.
A question.
A laugh that arrived unexpectedly.
A thought that stayed longer than it was supposed to.
Funny trophies.
Hard to display on a shelf.
The world likes medals.
Gold.
Silver.
Bronze.
Proof that something happened.
Proof that somebody won.
Artists, however, often wander into meadows.
Places without scoreboards.
Without finish lines.
Without anyone keeping track.
Just curiosity growing wherever it pleases.
Of course, there’s always a little meddling.
A line gets adjusted.
A color gets changed.
An idea gets pulled apart and rebuilt for no good reason other than, “Let’s see what happens.”
Medals.
Meadows.
Meddling.
Three very different things.
Yet they seem to cross paths more often than expected.
Recognition is nice.
Exploration is nicer.
Experimentation is where the fun usually starts.
The funny thing is that many artists begin by chasing a medal.
Then somewhere along the way they discover a meadow.
Years later, they’re still there.
Covered in paint, questions, and unfinished ideas.
Happily meddling.
Not lost.
Just exploring.
