Man’s best friend is many…
—Jig3125
Dogs get a lot of credit.
To be fair, they’ve earned it.
Loyal.
Dependable.
Always excited to see you.
Even when you’ve done absolutely nothing worth celebrating.
That’s a rare quality.
Been thinking about the phrase:
“Man’s best friend.”
Singular.
Just one.
Really?
That seems a little limiting.
Life has a way of introducing all kinds of friends.
Some have four legs.
Some have two.
Some are people.
Some are places.
Some are hobbies that somehow keep showing up exactly when they’re needed.
A good book can feel like a friend.
A favorite song.
A familiar bench.
A morning routine.
Even a quiet moment can arrive right on time.
The dog still deserves recognition, of course.
No argument there.
They’re professionals.
Experts, really.
Perhaps “best friend” was never meant to be a competition.
The dog knows this already.
That’s why they’re usually happy to share the title.
Well…
Most of them.
