Psst

Myringa sounds like music to thee ears…
silence even has a ring to it.

Psst…
Myringa—
the word seems to have a little melody tucked inside it.
That’s because it lives somewhere near the ear,
where sound gets its first invitation.
Almost expecting something to happen.
Then—
psst…
Just enough sound to interrupt the nothing.
Just enough nothing to make the sound noticeable.
And apparently,
even silence has a ring to it.
The ear doesn’t need a whole orchestra.
A sound that barely shows up.
A word that barely speaks.
A psst from somewhere between
hearing and listening.
Myringa sounds like music to thee ears.
And silence???
The quietest song of all.
